Eyes of the Eternal Herd

This piece reflects on the ethical implications of wool production and the often-overlooked cruelty inflicted on sheep in the pursuit of material gain. The intertwined wool, soft and inviting, contrasts sharply with the harsh reality it represents—the exploitation and harm endured by the animals.

At first glance, the sheep figures seem docile, almost serene, but the presence of numerous eyes reveals an unsettling awareness. Hidden beneath the sheep is a larger, watchful eye—symbolizing the omnipresent truth that cannot be ignored. This eye challenges the viewer to look beyond the surface and acknowledge the systemic violence behind the comfort and warmth we derive from wool.

Through this piece, I aim to provoke reflection on our relationship with nature and the ethical choices we make, urging us to confront the uncomfortable truths that lie beneath the layers of our daily lives.
